How to

With Bam+Boo’s there are so many option every step of the way to insure you have a nappy that suits your child’s individual needs.

Here is how they work:

Pre-washing your nappies

When you first bring your order home, pre-wash the nappies before use.   Please remember that our bamboo soaker’s only reach full absorbency after about 10 washes but may be worn after the first wash.  Before they have been washed 10 times may will not hold as much liquid so be patient, one washed in they are super absorbent.

Adjusting the size

Bam+Boo Nappies have 4 rows on clips on the front of the nappy so that it can fit babies of all sizes.  Clip in the rows to where you think it will fit your child, newborns will have it clipped to the top and when the nappy is not clipped up at all it will fit a child of 16kg +.  Once the nappy is on the child check to see it is the correct setting and change if necessary.  Check every few months to see if the nappy is still on the correct setting and adjust accordingly.  The front clips can stay clipped up in the wash and do not need to be redone with each change.

Putting nappy together

For newborns only the soaker will be necessary.  The booster can be added with the soaker at night for extra absorbency.

Older babies will start to need the booster and soaker during the day usually around 1 year old.  At this point you can either put a extra soaker or even an extra soaker and booster in for night time use, depending on your child’s absorbency needs.

Boosters can be adjusted to better suit boys and girls by clipping them in where they need them most i.e. in the front for boys and more to the middle and back for girls.

Stains

1. Green bar soaps are one of the most “green”, cheap and easy stain removers.  Scrubbing nappy lightly before putting in bucket or washing works wonders.

2. Sunlight is also great for removing stain so dry outside on the line or cloths horse as often as possible.  It also helps to kill germs naturally.

3. Please do not use bleach or other harsh detergents including fabric softener as these will damage your nappies.

Washing

Our nappies can be washed in cold or warm (up to 60°C) depending on what you prefer.

We recommend using a gentle, eco friendly detergent.  If using your regular washing powder use a smaller amount of it when washing nappies to prevent soap buildup.

No pre-soaking of nappies is necessary, in fact this will damage them, especially if done regularly.  During times of many soiled nappies such as during tummy upsets and teething soak nappies in bucket of water with something mild such as tea tree oil to help kill germs but do not leave them soaking for longer than a day.
